In late 2023, OMPHOBBY redefined the 700-class helicopter with the release of the M7. From day one, it proved itself to be exceptionally durable, remarkably precise, and capable of delivering world-class flight performance. With its commanding presence in the air, ultra-quiet drivetrain, effortless maintenance, and tool-free adjustable belt drive, the M7 quickly became a favorite among pilots worldwide.
Now, two years later, that legacy evolves.
Introducing the M7R — the ultimate refinement of the M7 platform and a true competition-grade machine. Built from everything we’ve learned in helicopter development to date, the M7R represents the pinnacle of performance, precision, and engineering excellence.
Lightweight by Design. Relentless in Performance.
The M7R’s primary focus is uncompromising weight optimization. While it remains unmistakably an M7 at its core, nearly every component has been refined. Through extensive FEA analysis and structural optimization, we reduced the airframe weight by approximately 200 grams compared to the original M7 — without sacrificing strength or durability.
The result is one of the lightest, lowest-inertia fully capable 700-class helicopters on the market today, engineered to perform flawlessly even under the most demanding competition conditions.
Precision Rotor System
At the heart of every great helicopter is its rotor system. The M7 set the benchmark with its smooth, precise, and powerful flight characteristics, and the M7R builds on that foundation.
The M7R retains the proven 32 mm main rotor geometry, delivering the same crisp, linear control pilots love, now refined with a sleeker and more elegant rotor head design. Standard POM rotor head inserts provide exceptional stability and control response across an incredibly wide RPM range, from 1100 all the way to 2400 RPM.
For pilots seeking even greater authority, an optional 1:1 rotor geometry will be available in the future.
Proven Tail Performance, Refined Further
A high-performance main rotor deserves an equally capable tail. The M7 tail system has earned its reputation for durability and precision, and the M7R proudly builds upon it.
The updated tail rotor dampers now use a significantly more durable material, increasing service life while delivering even more precise tail authority. The tail boom and fin now feature silk-screened graphics, eliminating the need for decals and enhancing long-term durability and appearance.
Bulletproof Drivetrain
At the core of the M7R drivetrain is a new 122-tooth main gear paired with a 13-tooth pinion, designed to handle the most powerful motors and demanding flight styles. Pinion options from 11T to 15T allow pilots to fine-tune gearing for any setup.
The trusted 5:1 tail ratio remains, driven by the proven 8 mm belt system and helically driven belt tensioner. Where others struggle with wear or adjustment, the M7R simply keeps going.
Refined Frame and Battery System
The M7R features a newly designed lower frame using chamfered carbon panels and precision-machined aluminum battery rails. This results in smoother battery installation, improved accessibility, and additional room for large, high-capacity packs favored by competition pilots.
The new flat-plate design reduces weight, simplifies maintenance, and lowers repair costs in the event of a crash. For pilots who prefer the original look, the M7’s molded lower frame panels remain compatible with minimal modification.
Advanced Tail Boom Clamping System
The redesigned tail boom clamp ensures perfect frame alignment while delivering exceptional clamping force — even at the limits of performance. The new design allows the lower frame to be removed without disturbing the tail boom, and vice versa, making maintenance faster and easier than ever.
Premium Materials Throughout
Every critical component of the M7R is built from premium materials. High-load and rotating parts are precision-machined from 7075 aluminum, while non-critical components utilize high-quality 6061-T6 aluminum. The result is outstanding durability, reliability, and longevity — in flight, during maintenance, and even in crashes.
Sleek New Canopy Design
The M7R introduces a lighter, more aerodynamic canopy inspired by OMPHOBBY’s latest design language. Improved flexibility, a tougher paint finish, and reduced aerodynamic drag allow for higher top speeds and easier battery access.
At launch, the M7R will be available in four striking colors:
Cosmic Orange, Solar Yellow, Nebula Pink, and Aurora Green.

Built for Compatibility
Despite its extensive refinements, the M7R maintains excellent compatibility with the original M7 platform. Many components remain interchangeable, allowing pilots to upgrade gradually or share spares when needed.
