BK Hobbies is a small, family run hobby shop. It is mostly me, my wife, and a small amount of help doing everything we can to keep orders shipping, customers taken care of, and products coming in.
I have been involved in the RC hobby in one way or another since 1983, and BK Hobbies exists because I truly love RC helicopters and the people in this hobby. We are not a large corporate retailer with massive buying power, huge warehouse resources, or large product categories outside the heli world to help balance everything out. We are a small specialty shop trying to support a very specific hobby the best we can.
One of the hardest parts of this business is inventory. In this hobby, it can take a very large investment in parts, kits, electronics, blades, accessories, and model specific items to generate a relatively small return. All of that inventory has to be purchased up front, and some items simply do not move the way we hoped they would. As the market continues to change, shrink, and become more unpredictable, a lot of cash can get tied up in inventory that may sit for months or even years.
That is what this sale is about.
We have older inventory, discontinued items, overstock products, and slow moving parts that need to go. Many of these are still perfectly good products, but they are not helping anyone sitting on our shelves. Rather than continue to hold them indefinitely, we are letting many of them go at deep discounts, and in some cases at or below cost.
Every order from this sale helps us turn slow moving inventory into fresh inventory and continue bringing in the products our customers are asking for now.
There are definitely easier businesses to run, but I am encouraged by those of you who continue to support BK Hobbies and appreciate what we try to do for the hobby. Whether it is through our videos, email support, customer service, product knowledge, or volunteer work with nonprofit organizations like IRCHA, we do our best to give back to the hobby that has been such a big part of my life.
I know many of our loyal customers have been seeing more items out of stock than usual, and I sincerely apologize for that. We are working hard to replenish inventory, and more products are on the way soon. The last year has been especially difficult with tariffs, rising costs, freight increases, and the challenges that come with keeping inventory flowing as a small business.
This is not a going out of business sale. We are still here, still shipping, and still committed to supporting the hobby. This sale is simply about moving older inventory, improving cash flow, and helping us keep BK Hobbies moving forward.
Thank you for supporting BK Hobbies and for continuing to support a small, family run hobby shop.
Sincerely,
Bert Kammerer
